This lot was one of the most challenging we'd undertaken to date. The lot was on a busy thoroughfare and had never been built on, sandwiched between two brick duplex homes from another era. The lot dropped deeply away from the street, almost immediately. Our goal had always been to provide two homes on this lot due to it's width of 124'. But it was also very shallow because of a sewer easement at the rear. About the same time we found this lot and made the decision to purchase, along came our first of two buyers for the homes on this lot. The first couple had been fans of ours since the sale of the little white house at the corner of Vaulx Lane and Montrose Avenue (2601 Vaulx Lane). They wanted us to build that house again, but it was our goal at the time not to mass produce any of our designs, at least not in the same neighborhood. So off we went - two new homes, one based loosely on the 2601 Vaulx house.
